Mobile World Congress Highlights Part Two

Samsung i7410

This phone has a projector in it. A friggin PROJECTOR. While that is all kinds of awesome, the thing that sucks is that like its big brothers, the bulbs are probably gonna be ridiculously expensive. But still, it would be cool to throw up a huge vid on a wall or something on the spur of the moment.

HTC Touch Diamond 2

HTC Announced a revamp to two of its most popular handsets, this first of which is the sleek and sexy Touch Diamond. The new version features a much larger screen, smooth backing, less buttons, and a dedicated zoom bar, which is a nice touch. When this thing launches it will be running WinMo 6.5, which is still WinMo, but definitely nicer than 6.1.

HTC Touch Pro 2

Along with the Diamond, HTC announced the successor to the first Touch Pro, and boy is it an upgrade. Almost the entire device is a touch screen, while the dedicated keypad got a bit of a touch up. The keypad slides out and tilts, and like the Diamond 2 it has its own dedicated zoom bar and will be running WinMo 6.5. Boy am I glad I didn’t drop $400 on the first HTC Touch Pro. I would have been pretty pissed off right now. I think if this thing was running Android it would be in the upper echelon of cell phone stardom.

Huawei Android Device

As of this writing, this phone is a total and complete mystery. Huawei revealed this prototype model at MWC, only saying that it would be running Android. The handset definitely looks nice, taking some notes from the iPhone. Hopefully more is revealed on this shrouded cell phone soon.

HTC Magic

Everyone was waiting for it, and HTC dropped the official bomb: Vodafone will be the first network to carry the HTC Magic, HTC’s second Android device. The notable difference from this device and the G1 is that it has no keyboard, making the handset a tad thinner and leaving all the typing to be done via virtual keyboard. Speculation says that this phone will be the G2 here in the US, but no official word on that yet. It would make sense though. I could see the G1 and G2 marketed side by side since they both offer something different. Please don’t disappoint, T-Mobile.
